Glendon Markle, retired instrumental teacher and symphony and band principal player

by Glendon Markle
(Middletown, OH)

I have played clarinet since grammer school. I spent two years in the US Army and played in the 2nd Army Band at Fort Meade, MD. I then graduated from West Chester University in PA with a BS in music education. While there I was principal clarinetist in the Concert Band, Symphony and Symphonetta. I then got a Masters degree from Miami University of OH on the clarinet. I did two full recitals during my degree program. Later I was principal clarinetist in the Hamilton, OH symphony, and also the Middletown, OH symphony. I was principal clarinetist with the Southwest Ohio Symphonic Band and also played with the Dayton Opera Company. I still do some limited playing in church, et al but I am trying to really retire because of my age. I plan to continue as long as I feel I can play well enough for people to listen to me.

My wife and I are currently developing a Performing Arts Academy in our city (Middletown, OH). We do not have the financial resources to purchase a building yet so are currently using public facilities. We are in our second year and have about 200 students enrolled in our programs.

Hello Glendon,

I wish you the best of luck with your Performing Arts Academy in Middletown, Ohio. The only web reference I could find to your academy was this article: Middletown Performing Arts Academy

Do you have a webpage? Probably you could use some free publicity. Go to this link to drum up some audiences. That link will help you build a local media list and how to write and send out press releases.

Also, if you cannot afford or have the know-how to start a webpage, consider starting a Facebook group for your Academy. Have students and/or teachers submit thoughts on the camp and start building a network. The Facebook resource is free. Believe me, a young volunteer college kid could get this running in no-time.

If you want the know-how to start a great webpage either for retirement or your academy, consider using SBI to build a website true to your passion. I cannot recommend SBI enough. Go here to read more.

If you do have a webpage, please provide it to me. Thanks.

Best.

Sincerely,
Chris
