when do you change the the reed on your clarinet?

to play well

FROM CLARINET-NOW

This is a short note from Brian in the UK. I'd say you are right. Change the clarinet reed to play well. I can not stress enough the importance of "Rotating Your Reeds." I actually change the reed on my clarinet every time I put it together and often a few times for every rehearsal or practice session. This ensures that you don't "kill" the reed immediately.

If you play one reed for a long time and then change it, you will almost always "kill" it quickly. See more about Clarinet Reed Adjustment here.
